A crazed fan who rushed the stage during a Beyoncé and Jay-Z concert in Atlanta has been charged with disorderly conduct and simple battery.

Anthony Charles Thomas Maxwell, 26, was arrested on Saturday night after he ran on stage, approached Jay-Z and made contact with him as the “On the Run II” concert was ending. Atlanta Police said Maxwell was quickly stopped by backup dancers before security guards could intervene. Beyoncé’s spokeswoman Yvette Noel-Schure confirmed that the singer and Jay-Z are fine.

The power couple – who have been touring since June – waved their final goodbyes to the packed out crowd at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, before turning around to make their exit – but were followed out by a stranger from the audience. Upon realising that Beyoncé, 36, and Jay-Z, 48, was mere inches away from the stage invader, several costumed dancers rushed to apprehend the man, who was tackled to the floor by security.
