Our instinct toward giving, particularly during the holiday season, is a healthy one, not just spiritually, but financially as well. Unfortunately, it can be hard to tell the difference between legitimate charities and fundraising scams, bogus charities and con artists intent on exploiting your giving nature to separate you from your money. The key to not being taken advantage of is not to be less generous, but more strategic with your charitable donations. Take my advice.
