Teaching Children to Pay for Their Wants

If you are a long-time Money Matters listener, you have heard me say that spending on your children should only rarely go beyond the basics: food, clothing, shelter, not the best money can buy and never more than needed, and a good education, both in terms of academics and character. Beyond that, the focus should be not on giving them everything they want (or wish you had when you were their age), but teaching them to earn and pay for what they want.
