FDA panel approves HIV prevention drug
A FDA panel has approved the HIV prevention drug Truvada. The drug was created by American-based pharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences, Inc. (AP)
(AURN) -- The 30-year fight to end the AIDS epidemic may finally be picking up speed as an FDA panel approves the first drug that prevents the HIV virus. While the FDA is not required to follow the panel's advice history shows it usually does. This news breaks, as studies reveal an urgent need for HIV relief among African-American women. American drug-maker Gilead Sciences Inc. created the drug, Truvada.
