(AURN) — Every year Glamour magazine hosts the Glamour Awards.  The magazine honors extraordinary and inspirational women from a variety of fields, including sports, entertainment, fashion, business and politics.

This year, the three women founders of the “Black Lives Matter” movement are among the 2016 honorees; Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi.

“Black Lives Matter” has become a staple movement, as activists show up at rallies demanding justice for African Americans taking on the criminal injustice, police brutality and politics.

One founder Tometi told Glamour ;

“We gave tongue to something that we all knew was happening,” Tometi told Glamour of the three activists’ work.

“We were courageous enough to call it what it was. But more than that, to offer an alternative. An inspirational message: Black lives matter.”

Other women on the list to be honored are Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, actress Zendaya, model and body activist Ashley Graham.  The recipients will be honored at a special awards ceremony in Los Angeles on November 14.
