Vice President Harris announced the US Department of Education’s plan to cancel all remaining federal student loans for borrowers who attended Corinthian Colleges, erasing nearly $6 billion of debt. The vice president along with President Biden accused Corinthian of regularly victimizing students with financial scams.

Corinthian Colleges was founded in 1995 and was among the largest for-profit education companies in North America. However, investigations into Corinthian uncovered racist and predatory lending practices, targeting Black, Latino, and impoverished communities.
