(AURN News) — Many questions loom ahead of next year’s midterm elections. And with one year to go, how are Americans feeling? Not good.
A new Pew Research Center poll shows major frustration with both parties. Only 39% say the Republican Party, which controls the White House, Senate and House, is “governing honestly and ethically.” When it comes to Democrats, 42% say the same.
When it comes to political extremism, 61% say Republicans are too extreme and 57% say Democrats are too extreme. Only 44% say Republicans respect the nation’s democratic institutions and traditions, while 53% say the same about Democrats.
Pew also found that 67% of Democrats are frustrated with their own party — largely over how it has responded to the policies and influence of former President Donald Trump. Forty-one percent say the party has not done enough to push back against his administration.
Sixty-nine percent of Republicans say their party makes them feel hopeful about the country’s future.
