(AURN News) — President Donald Trump has issued a pardon to Texas Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar and his wife, Imelda, following federal indictments announced in May 2024.
In a Wednesday post on Truth Social, Trump claimed the Biden administration had “weaponized the Justice System against their political opponents, and anyone who disagreed with them.” He argued Cuellar became a target after he “bravely spoke out against open borders and the Biden border ‘catastrophe.'”

Cuellar and his wife were charged with bribery, money laundering and related offenses. According to Politico, the congressman filed for reelection on Wednesday shortly after the pardon announcement.
Trump said he believed the couple had been unfairly treated, declaring: “I am hereby announcing my full and unconditional pardon of beloved Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar, and Imelda.” The president added, “Henry, I don’t know you, but you can sleep well tonight — your nightmare is finally over!”
