(AURN News) – President Trump personally overturned DHS’ pause on ICE vehicle stops Wednesday, less than a day after the agency ordered them halted following two fatal shootings in one week.

“We cannot give up one of ICE’s most important and effective crime-fighting tools, the traffic stop.”

Trump wrote that on Truth Social, calling the pause “playing right into the criminals’ hands.”

According to The Atlantic, the reversal came after backlash from MAGA-aligned figures like Tomi Lahren and Steve Bannon, with Trump reportedly concluding the pause made ICE look weak.

And by Wednesday morning, he overruled Secretary Markwayne Mullin and border czar Tom Homan without warning, leaving his own senior leadership blindsided.

Senator Susan Collins says Trump’s reversal could well lead to additional deaths.
