(AURN News) — President Donald Trump made a new financial promise to voters Wednesday night at the GOP’s midterm convention in Dallas.
“And here is my promise. If the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, both of them, because of our economic — tremendous economic success … I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000.”
Trump is calling it the “Trump Dividend” — $5,000 for every adult U.S. citizen, but only if Republicans retain control of both the House and Senate in November.
Trump said the only condition is that the money must be spent in the U.S. The payments would likely cost more than $1 trillion and require congressional approval.
This isn’t Trump’s first proposal for direct payments to Americans. He previously floated $2,000 tariff dividend checks and considered a “DOGE dividend” tied to federal spending cuts. Neither proposal resulted in payments.
