The White House  is pushing for responsible AI development in an effort they say is to protect the rights and safety of Americans. Seven leading AI companies, including Amazon and Google, have pledged to ensure safe and transparent AI technology. The companies will invest in cybersecurity, report AI capabilities, as well as combat bias and discrimination risks.

The White House is also working with allies including Japan, Brazil, and the U.K. to create an international framework for AI governance. The President has already put forth an executive order focused on bias when it comes to discrimination caused by algorithms.

The Office of Management and Budget will soon release draft policy guidance to ensure federal agencies prioritize Americans’ rights and safety in the development, procurement, and use of AI systems.
