President Biden is gearing up to officially launch his 2024 reelection campaign as early as Tuesday. The announcement is expected to coincide with the four-year anniversary of his 2020 campaign launch, with aides finalizing plans to release a video for the president to kick off his campaign.
Biden has reportedly tapped Julie Chávez Rodriguez, the director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, to lead his reelection. His team has been quietly preparing for a run, holding regular meetings with the president and first lady, and conducting extensive research on the political and media landscape they will face.
If reelected, Biden, 80, would be the oldest president in U.S. history. His expected announcement comes amid ongoing investigations into his handling of classified information and those of his son Hunter Biden.
Meanwhile, his predecessor, Donald Trump, has announced his own bid to reclaim the Oval Office.
