(AURN News) — George Kamel says Americans can still break free from debt, build wealth and take control of their financial futures.
Kamel, a No. 1 national bestselling author and co-host of “The Ramsey Show” and “Smart Money Happy Hour,” lays out that message in his book “Breaking Free From Broke.”
The book is part personal story and part financial education guide, breaking down debt, budgeting, spending habits and the money traps that keep people stuck.
Kamel says his own financial journey began with debt. He graduated from college with $36,000 in student loan debt and $4,000 in credit card debt before finding a path that helped him turn things around.
“I got out of that debt in 18 months. I got an emergency fund. I began investing for the future. And I ended up going from broke to millionaire within 10 years,” Kamel told AURN News.
He also pushes back against the idea that his success came simply because he works at Ramsey Solutions.
“I started as an intern. I was making like $12 an hour as a temp and an intern, and my first salary job was in the thirty thousands,” Kamel said.
Kamel says the book is designed to help people stop trying to do everything at once and instead follow a clear plan.
“What the baby steps do is it gives you a very clear framework, one step at a time,” he said.
For those overwhelmed by inflation, high costs and debt, Kamel says the message of the book is rooted in responsibility and hope.
“One of the main sort of tenets in the book is it’s not all your fault, but it’s your responsibility,” Kamel said.
Kamel says “Breaking Free From Broke” is for people who feel stuck, frustrated or convinced that building wealth is no longer possible. His message is that the path to building wealth is still there, but it requires a plan, discipline and a decision to stop letting debt control your future.
