Sunday, June 7 marks the birthday of Prince Rogers Nelson, one of the most brilliant, fearless, and influential artists in music history.

Born on June 7, 1958, in Minneapolis, Prince bent genres, broke rules, and built a sound that fused funk, rock, soul, pop, gospel, and pure Black genius.

He was not just a singer or musician; he was a producer, songwriter, performer, fashion icon, and cultural force who insisted on owning his name, his masters, and his freedom.

Prince passed away on April 21, 2016, at his Paisley Park home in Minnesota. He was only 57 years old.

In 2026, he would have turned 68. His life was far too short, but his impact is eternal.

From “Purple Rain” to “Sign o’ the Times,” Prince remains a symbol of artistry without apology and endless, fearless creative fire.

Happy heavenly birthday to the one and only Prince.
