Well, this is a story we certainly did not see coming. Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka is likely facing suspension for the entire 2022-23 season for his role in an intimate relationship with a female member of the franchise’s staff.
According to sources for ESPN, the relationship is considered a violation of the organization’s guidelines. The proposed penalty for Udoka is largely unprecedented for a sitting head coach in the NBA. The formal announcement is expected as soon as today. And I have to add, before this announcement, he was engaged to the fabulous actress, Nia Long. And you know how much I love her.
Well, Udoka joined the Celtics last summer after spending time with the San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76ers, and Brooklyn Nets among other teams. He replaced Brad Stevens as head coach. And, of course, Stevens moved to the front office after Danny Ainge left. We could go on about all that.
But anyway, in his first season as coach, Udoka oversaw a remarkable turnaround in the Celtics. One that saw them closing the season with a 28-7 record over their final 35 games. They had an impressive run through the Eastern Conference playoffs, advancing to the finals for the first time in 12 years. Udoka is the fifth coach in the past 25 years to reach the NBA Finals in his first season as head coach and the first since Nick Nurse back in 2019.
Well, I don’t even know what to say about all of this. You know, it’s just ridiculous. I would think that some of these guys might want to pay attention to the #metoo movement. It’s still going on. And not saying that this wasn’t something that was consensual, but it was stupid. Just plain stupid. So we’ll see what happens to that.
In other news, PnB Rock’s murder at the famed Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles last week could have been a planned execution. That’s according to what the LAPD is telling TMZ.
Fans were quick to believe that his girlfriend Steph posted their location as they dined at the famed restaurant, which ultimately resulted in the rapper’s untimely passing. They thought it was just random.
Well, they started checking into it, and turns out that PnB was sharing some stuff with locals in Atlanta. He spends a lot of time there. And they are thinking that someone in Atlanta wanted him dead. In other words, they feel that this was a premeditated motive for ending his life. So I’m sure this story will go on for a while.
