(AURN News) — There is growing discontent and resentment regarding data centers, and as they continue to spread across the country, the popularity of these projects is not spreading with them.
A recent poll from Emerson College found that 63% of registered voters say they oppose data centers in or near their communities.
A June poll from Ipsos shows that 44% of Americans oppose the construction of new data centers.
Broken down along party lines, 54% of Democrats oppose new data center construction, while only 37% of Republicans oppose it. When it comes to independents, 43% are opposed.
The numbers show that despite the continued expansion of data centers across the country, many Americans remain deeply concerned about what those projects could mean for their communities.
