Uber Driver Charged with Road Rage Murder of Houston Pastor  

Uber driver Deshawn Longmire, 23 was charged with murder over an apparent road rage incident with Rev. Ronald K. Mouton Sr., 58. Rev. Mouton a pastor at the East Bethel Missionary Church in Houston, TX was stopped at a stoplight where he briefly argued with Longmire on June 24th. As both vehicles began moving, Longmire pointed a gun outside of the driver side window of his black Honda fatally shooting Mouton. Surveillance footage showed the pastor crashing his BMW at the curb where he ultimately died. Rev. Mouton had been a pastor and activist for 30 years and was remembered in a community-wide celebration of life. Investigators were recently able to piece together conclusive evidence from both surveillance video, eyewitnesses, and records from Longmire’s Uber account to positively ID him. He currently is being held on a $500,000 bond in Harris County Jail

David and Tamela Mann Are Prepping for the “Overcomer Tour”

Fresh off two more Stellar Award wins and the release of her new deluxe edition of “Overcomer,” Tamela Mann and her husband David Mann are all geared up for a 22-city tour set to kick off this fall, “The Overcomer Mann Family Tour” featuring David, Tamela, son, David Mann Jr, daughters, Tia Mann, and Tiffany Mann will be a variation of music, comedy, and family entertainment.  Fans can expect Tamela to deliver a full concert each evening of her greatest hits as well as some new releases from Overcomer: Deluxe Edition. “We’re excited to get back out on tour with our family,” said David, executive producer of the tour, to which Tamela added, “It’s a family experience of music and comedy, with something for everyone.” The tour is scheduled to run through November 2022.  Opening night will be Friday, September 2, 2022, at the Liberation Church in Richmond, VA. 

Clark Sisters Performing for the 2022 Cincinnati Black Family Reunion 

The 2022 Cincinnati Black Family Reunion is a free four-day celebration of the Black family taking place at Sawyer Point August 18th – August 21st.  The Reunion was founded 34 years ago by Dr. Dorothy Height, President of the National Council of Negro Women. Cincinnati is the only city that continues Dr. Height’s traditional celebration of Black families. The weekend will feature family-focused events, a job fair, a parade, and an array of local Black-owned businesses. There will also be concerts, including performances by gospel artists including The Clark Sisters, Pastor Donnie McClurkin and Earnest Pugh

89th Annual National Convention of Gospel Choirs & Chorus

The 89th Annual Session of the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses (NCGCC) has begun hosting its 4-day conference which runs through August 12th. This year’s conference has returned in-person for the first time since 2020 and is being held at the Doubletree by Hilton in Orlando, FL. The NCGCC, founded by Dr. Thomas A. Dorsey in 1932 continues to honor his legacy under the leadership of  internationally renowned operatic singer and Stellar Award Gospel Hall of Famer Dr. Marabeth E. Gentry who will be honored during the Convention for her 10th year as President. This year’s  musical guests will include Kim Burrell, Bishop Hezekiah WalkerOscar Williams Jr., Brandon Gaines, Jason Clayborn & The Atmosphere Changers and many others  

Pure Flix Will Soon Be Presenting “An Unlikely Angel” to Streaming Audiences  

Pure Flix has an upcoming, inspirational film about balancing priorities between work and family. With so many people today fixated on multitasking and getting it all done, “An Unlikely Angel,” is a reminder about the things that are really important in life. The original movie is about Janie, a workaholic who is also about to become a first-time mom. Janie who finds herself totally overwhelmed, whispers a prayer that gets answered in an unexpected way. “An Unlikely Angel,” is movie about overcoming fear, balancing priorities, and getting a second chance, but will it be already too late? The movie’s cast includes Jillian Murray, Robert Amaya, Aaron Mees, Sam J. Jones, Brittany Goodwin, and Delyla de Castro. The movie is one of 13 new original, family-friendly films and series exclusively debuting this year on Pure Flix. “An Unlikely Angel,” will be available for streaming on Pure Flix August 26, 2022.
