“U.S. Steel is a historic American company. And it is vital for our nation to maintain strong American steel companies. And I couldn’t agree more with President Biden – U.S. Steel should remain American-owned and American-operated.”
That was Vice President Kamala Harris campaigning in Pittsburgh on Labor Day in a joint appearance with President Joe Biden. She told the crowd of over 600 people at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #5 union hall, “I will always have the back of America’s steelworkers.”
Harris and Biden have strongly opposed the sale of the U.S. Steel Corporation to Japanese company Nippon Steel, a $14.9 billion deal, threatening the livelihoods of hundreds of American steelworkers, with the potential loss of up to 600 jobs at the Granite City Works plant.
Harris and Biden stand firm with American workers, insisting that American steel remains in American hands.
