Vice President Kamala Harris is announcing a major proposal today in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to expand small business tax deductions from $5,000 to $50,000. The plan is aimed at boosting entrepreneurship as part of Harris’ broader economic strategy heading into the final months before Election Day.
Harris is also setting an ambitious goal of 25 million new small business applications during her first term if elected. This move, Harris says, will help level the playing field for small businesses, especially in underserved communities. It is in stark contrast to former President Donald Trump, who focused on giving tax breaks to big companies.
The announcement comes just days before Harris will face Trump in a debate, where she plans to highlight her commitment to economic growth for everyday Americans.
