FORT WORTH, Texas (AURN News) — A journalism pioneer has died. Jill Darden, founder of Fort Worth Black News, has passed away.

Darden founded the publication in 1997 with a mission “to inform and inspire readers through reports from the community.”

Tributes are pouring in from across the community.

The Dock Bookshop shared a message on Facebook saying, “Her impact was immeasurable, and she was truly a beautiful human being.”

“She stood by our side — writing articles, sharing our story and events, attending and participating in events, and most importantly, being a constant encourager, supporter, and friend,” the post continued.

Darden is survived by her son, Jiles Clark.
