AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AURN News) — The Netherlands is set to host the 2025 NATO summit at the World Forum in The Hague this June, marking the first time the meeting will be held in the country.
Questions about the United States‘ future relationship with NATO remain prominent as President Donald Trump begins his second term. Trump’s administration has suggested changing the country’s role with NATO through restructuring to cut defense spending, according to NBC News.
Opposition to Trump’s planned attendance has already emerged in the Netherlands.
This past weekend, thousands of protesters took to the streets in Amsterdam against racism and fascism. Dutch News reports that 15,000 people were in attendance.
Many anti-Donald Trump and anti-Elon Musk protesters made their views clear—some even calling for Trump not to attend the NATO summit in The Hague in June, according to Dutch News.
