(AURN News) — On July 22, 1946, Danny Glover was born in San Francisco. Today, we celebrate an actor, producer and activist whose legacy extends far beyond Hollywood.
Glover became a household name as Roger Murtaugh in the “Lethal Weapon” films, but his performances in “The Color Purple,” “Places in the Heart,” “To Sleep with Anger” and “Mandela” showcased his extraordinary range.
Throughout his career, he has used his platform to champion civil rights, labor movements, humanitarian causes and socially conscious filmmaking.
His work has earned him numerous honors, including the Academy’s Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
Glover has never been content simply to entertain. He has challenged audiences to think, feel and confront injustice.
Earlier this month, Glover revealed that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2023. He shared his journey to reduce stigma and remind others that life continues.
