Oprah Winfrey threw a surprise celebration of life this week for her 88-year-old father, Vernon. He’s been suffering from cancer, so Oprah gathered some of his nearest and dearest to throw a barbecue on the 4th of July in honor of her dad while he’s still well enough to enjoy it.

The talk show titan took to a selfie video from the party in front of a festive sign that read “Vernon Winfrey Appreciation Celebration.” Now, apparently, her dad thought it was just a regular 4th of July barbecue until he walked out and saw the sign himself. He was overjoyed.

Oprah gave a speech thanking Vernon for being the kind father who brought honor to his life and her life and also taught her how to work hard. She said he ran his barber shop, he never closed that darn store. Not during Christmas, not on the weekends. She said that’s why for 25 years with the Oprah Winfrey Show, she never missed a show. Well, congratulations to you and your dad, Oprah.

On Wednesday, Drake received a response to an Instagram post from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos with the topic being their humble beginnings. The 35-year-old Canadian superstar posted two images: one of him outside of his former apartment in Toronto and the other of Bezos working in a small office when Amazon was just a startup.

The Toronto native captioned the shot, “Gotta start somewhere.” Bezos responded with the title of Drake’s 2013 hit “Started From the Bottom.” Drake mentioned this apartment on his 2015 track, “Know Yourself.” It was used as a studio space.

Bezos, who has a net worth of $138 billion, initially launched Amazon in 1994 as an online bookstore headquartered out of the garage of the Seattle home he was renting at the time.

Needless to say, Drake and Bezos are no strangers to one another. Earlier this year, they worked together investing in the sports company Overtime, which received $80 million in capital earmarked toward paying athletes and hiring new staff for a teen basketball league.

Speaking of the rich, North West is no stranger to Paris Fashion Week. A few years ago, she hit the stage to rap for the first time. Now she’s turning heads with her fashion choices, proving she is the “it” girl in the making.

The nine-year-old fashionista, who celebrated her birthday last month, was spotted making her rounds in Paris with her mom, Kim Kardashian. She served a moment decked out in her dad’s throwback pastel varsity jacket, which she paired with black pants and Balenciaga chunky, steel-toe crocs. She accessorized her look with a tiny purse and bright blue Louis Vuitton Millionaire sunglasses.
