Today, the nation paused to remember Rosalynn Carter, an influential former First Lady with a memorial service in Atlanta. Her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, and numerous national figures were in attendance at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church.

The service brought together First Lady Jill Biden and former First Ladies Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, Michelle Obama, and Melania Trump in a rare show of solidarity.

The gathering also included President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in a testament to Rosalynn Carter’s lasting impact.

Carter passed away at the age of 96 and was a dedicated advocate for mental health and humanitarian rights. Her journey ended peacefully at her Georgia home, leaving behind a legacy of service and advocacy.

A private funeral at Moran the Baptist Church in Plains, a place dear to the Carters, will follow. The nation watches as we bid farewell to a figure who shaped public policy in profound ways.
