Actor Samuel L. Jackson has dubbed Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas “Uncle Clarence” after the conservative justice wrote an opinion defending the court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

“Uncle Clarence” is an apparent reference to the infamous character in abolitionist Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin, who is widely seen as compliant and subservient to his white masters. In his tweet on Saturday, Jackson said, “How’s Uncle Clarence feeling about Overturning Loving v Virginia??!!”

Loving v. Virginia is the 1967 case that declared interracial marriages were no longer illegal. It is that decision that made it possible for Thomas to marry his wife Virginia Lamp, a white woman, 20 years later.

In other news, Cardi B fired up a strong response to an online troll who called her three-year-old daughter Kulture autistic.

Last Friday, she made it clear her daughter is not autistic among other choice words for the commenter. It was met with a mixed reception from some of her fans, who pointed out that autism is not to be taken as an insult.
