WASHINGTON (AURN News) — With control of Congress on the line, new polling shows President Donald Trump facing widespread disapproval just 15 days before the midterm elections. A Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll found that 33% of Americans approve of Trump’s job performance, while 66% disapprove. Separate NBC News and Fox News polls found Trump’s approval ratings at 34% and 36%, respectively, according to Axios.
The polls are separate snapshots of public opinion, not predictions of which party will control Congress. But the stakes extend beyond the president’s popularity. The elections will determine which party controls each chamber of Congress, shaping decisions on federal spending, investigations and oversight of the administration.
For families concerned about health care, household costs or voting rights, the question is what candidates will actually deliver. That test comes on Nov. 3.
Whether dissatisfaction with Trump translates into votes against Republicans — or whether GOP candidates can maintain their support — remains to be seen.
