New developments: The White House told BBC that President will not speak with today, despite earlier reports of a truce call.

Instead, Trump told ABC News that he’s still not interested in talking to Musk, whom he now calls “the man who has lost his mind.”

This all began when Musk blasted Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act as a “disgusting abomination,” prompting Trump to threaten cutting government contracts. Musk even threatened to decommission SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft, used by to ferry astronauts, before walking it back. Then Musk dropped a bombshell, claiming that Trump’s name appears in undisclosed Jeffrey Epstein files — suggesting that’s why the government withheld certain documents.

The White House called that “unfortunate,” but offered no detailed rebuttal.

At stake: Musk spent nearly $300 million supporting Republicans during the 2024 election cycle. Now, with no call on the horizon and personal insults flying, the question is whether the rupture between two of America’s most powerful figures is permanent.
