The 70th annual Emmys will be held Monday, September 17 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and this year was a record high of 29 Black actors nominated, destroying last years 2017 numbers of 19 nominations.

2018 Emmy Nominations for Black Actors (Talent)

Talent: Atlanta – 16 Nominations

Second year for Outstanding Comedy Series

Two of Atlanta’s episodes “Alligator Man” written by Donald Glover and “Barbershop” written by Stefani Robinson received its own nominations in the category for

Outstanding writing for a Comedy Series. Alligator Man is also nominated for Outstanding Music Supervision.

– Actor Donald Glover — Outstanding Lead Actor In a Comedy Series, this will be Glover’s second nomination.

– Actor Brian Tyree Henry( who plays Glover’s cousin Alfred aka Paper Boi — landing his first nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series

– Actress Zazie Beetz — First nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series

– Katt Williams — Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy(Alligator Man episode

 

Talent: Black-ish – 5 Nominations

Third year for Outstanding Comedy Series, First for Outstanding Contemporary Costumes

– Actress Tracee Ellis Ross — Outstanding Lead Actress In a Drama Series, this will be her third nomination for the ABC comedy series Black-ish.

– Actor Anthony Anderson — Outstanding Lead Actor In a Comedy Series, Anderson’s fourth nomination for the Comedy series, he’s yet to win.

– Wanda Skyes — Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy

– Actor Sterling K. Brown— Outstanding Lead Actor In a Drama Series

– Ron Cephas Jones — Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series

– Actor Jeffrey Wright — Outstanding Lead Actor In a Drama Series

– Actress Thandie Newton — Outstanding Supporting Actress In a Drama Series, this is her second nomination for the role, last year was the first.

– Actress Issa Rae is nominated for her first Emmy in Outstanding Lead Actress In a Drama Series

– Actor Tituss Burgess — Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series

– Kenan Thompson — Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series
