(AURN News) — Duane Keith Davis, 63, was found guilty of first-degree murder for orchestrating the 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas, according to The New York Times.
Davis is the first and only person charged in the case, which remained unresolved for nearly 30 years.
Prosecutors argued that Davis obtained the gun used in the drive-by shooting and helped pursue Shakur during a gang conflict tied to the East Coast-West Coast hip-hop rivalry.
The case gained new momentum after Davis discussed his role in interviews, with police, in a documentary and in his memoir.
Jurors deliberated for about three hours before returning a guilty verdict.
Davis, who has said he plans to appeal, was ordered held without bail. He faces a sentence of life in prison, with sentencing scheduled for Oct. 13.
The conviction comes just days before the 30th anniversary of Shakur’s shooting.
