(AURN News) — New polling shows Americans are divided over President Donald Trump’s recent military action in Venezuela aimed at removing former President Nicolas Maduro.
A Reuters/Ipsos survey found that 33% of adults approve of the action, while 34% disapprove. Another 33% said they did not know or skipped the question.
Broken down by party, 65% of Republicans said they approved of the military action, compared with just 11% of Democrats.
When asked whether the United States risks becoming “too involved” in Venezuela, 72% of respondents said yes.
The survey comes as Trump acknowledged in an interview with NBC News that taxpayer money could be used to reimburse oil companies for investments related to Venezuela.
“A tremendous amount of money will have to be spent, and the oil companies will spend it, and then they’ll get reimbursed by us or through revenue,” the president said.
