(AURN) — The Alliance for a Healthier Generation, founded by the American Heart Association and the Clinton Foundation, recently honored schools, school districts, the National AfterSchool Association and NIKE, Inc. at the Alliance’s 2016 Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C.

The event celebrated the highest-achieving America’s Healthiest Schools: 72 Gold and Silver Award-winning schools from across the country. These schools meet or exceed stringent standards set by the Alliance’s Healthy Schools Program for serving healthier meals and snacks, getting students moving more, offering high-quality physical and health education and empowering school leaders to become healthy role models.

AURN’s Danielle Smith has more with Dr. Howell Weschsler, Chief Executive Officer, of the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.
