(AURN News) — Black activists and media figures are urging the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation to reject funding from technology company Palantir.
Signers of the open letter include activist Rashad Robinson, Black Voters Matter co-founder LaTosha Brown, the Rev. Jamal Bryant, Tamika Mallory and Joy-Ann Reid. They are urging the foundation to reject Palantir’s funding, including its sponsorship of September’s Annual Legislative Conference.
The letter calls Palantir an “injustice machine,” citing what the signers describe as its software’s role in predictive policing, immigration surveillance and deportations, as well as cuts to diversity-related grants. It also cites support for President Donald Trump among Palantir’s leadership.
The signers stress their support for the Congressional Black Caucus, especially as Republican-led redistricting threatens seats held by Black lawmakers. But they write, “There is a difference between making compromises and being compromised.”
