(AURN News) – A political firestorm erupted in Washington after President Donald Trump launched an extraordinary attack on six Democratic lawmakers, all military veterans, who released a video urging service members to uphold their oath on social media.

Trump declared this: “Seditious behavior at the highest level. Each one of these traitors to our country should be arrested and put on trial. An example must be set. Their seditious behavior is punishable by death.”

The lawmakers, including Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander and Rep. Elissa Slotkin, responded defiantly in their video. Sen. Kelly says, “Our oath was and always will be to the Constitution, not to any individual – not even the president.” He continues, “Our laws are clear. You can and must refuse illegal orders.”

Congresswoman Goodlander added, “No amount of intimidation or threats will silence us. We will not back down from defending democracy.”
