Compared to January 2021, gas prices have doubled. Back then, the average cost was $2.39 per gallon. Today it’s $4.81 and climbing. Californians are encountering gas at nearly $10 per gallon.

During the pandemic, gas hit a low of $1.77 in April 2020. President Biden continues to blame Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine for the spike in prices. But politics and blame aside, it will be an expensive summer for Americans with no end in sight to rising fuel costs coupled with inflation.
