Preachers of L.A. Pastor Announces Split from Wife
In an open letter posted on social media, Pastor Wayne Chaney Jr. announced that he and his wife Myesha Chaney were getting divorced. Pastor Chaney, a former co-star of the Oxygen Networkreality television series Preachers of L.A. stated, “the two merely drifted apart.” Pastor Chaney who is the lead pastor of the Antioch Church of Long Beach in CA said, “the most difficult part of the separation is the transition that their three children Wayne III, Reign and Cadence will have to go through.” The pair married nearly 17 years have come to what Chaney says was “a loving but necessary end.” In her own post, former first lady Myesha whose picture is still on church website addressed her Antioch family letting them know “it has been a joy and a pleasure to serve you as your first lady.” The two recently appeared amicably at the recent wedding celebration of Bishop Noel Jones and Lady Loretta and despite divorcing, they shared a dance at the couple’s reception.
Is Chick-fil-A Getting in the Way of Michigan Town?
Popular Christian fast-food restaurant chain Chick-fil-A was slapped with a zoning violation letter by Michigan’s Garfield Township who has issued a complaint ahead of the summer tourism rush for restaurant to address the traffic pileups and congestion on the property or else actions may be taken that would lead to Chick-fil-A’s permit being revoked. According to Township Planning Director John Sych, Chick-fil-A plans to present a series of proposed short and long-term solutions at the planning commission’s June 8 meeting including the possibility of acquiring more land to accommodate the both the Township and the town’s people.
NYC’s Governor Partners with Black Churches for Health Initative
NY Governor Kathy Hochul recently appeared at the First Corinthian Baptist Church in Harlem to announce an allocation of $3.38 million for Choose Healthy Life (CHL), a collaborative effort of preventative wellness programs run by twenty churches to address health care disparities in Black communities exposed by the COVID pandemic. Choose Healthy Life founded by Debra Fraser-Howze, has brought United Way together with churches, local health departments, hospitals, and community-based organizations to provide much needed health services. Governor Hochul said, “this funding will be critical in helping address health care inequities in underserved communities.” The state’s commitment includes funding from founding partner Quest Diagnostics Foundation as part of a public-private collaboration with the church-based community health workforce.
Acclaimed Detroit Entertainment Attorney Passes Away
Benjamin Whitfield Jr.,age 76, former Eastern Michigan District U.S. Attorney and co-owner of Crystal Rose Records passed away at home in Detroit, MI. Crystal Rose Records, one the most successful independent gospel labels of the 1990s and early 2000s was launched in 1983 and founded by Whitfield, Brian Spears, his nephew producer and artist, songwriter, producer Donald Lawrence. Over the course of his long and illustrious career, worked with a roster of major artists including Donald Lawrence & the Tri-City Singers, Earnest Pugh, Ricky Dillard & New G, The Whitfield Company, and others. As an entertainment attorney, he represented The Clark Sistersand the late singer, Aaliyah. At Whitfield’s homegoing service, The Thomas Whitfield Company sang two of their Crystal Rose classic records including “I’m Encouraged” and “I Shall Wear a Crown.
Pastor Henderson and Shaunie O’Neal Wed
Not long after Shaunie O’Neal of VH-1’s “Basketball Wives” announced her planned wedding episode of “Wives” and pending nuptials to fiancé Pastor Keion Henderson. The pair soon became one on a beach in the Caribbean. Shaunie originally posted that the two had planned to tie the knot later this year but surprised her fans with photos of her alongside her groom Pastor Henderson in Anguilla at the Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Club. Among Shaunie’s five children from her previous marriage to basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal. When asked about the romantic wedding, the groom, Pastor Henderson joked about how his “eyes were sweating” during the emotional toast to his bride.
