South Florida now has a lasting honor for the country’s first Black female U.S. Supreme Court justice. A portion of SW 184th Street is now Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson Street.

“I am so proud that I grew up here in this South Florida community, which thanks to all of you, now has a prominent street that bears my name,” Justice Brown Jackson said.

Along with being the first Black female Supreme Court justice, Brown Jackson is also the first former public defender to rise to sit on the highest court in the nation and the first associate justice from Florida.
