The committee investigating the January 6th capital attack held its seventh hearing on Tuesday. They focused on right-wing extremist groups like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers and what role they played in trying to overturn the 2020 election and the storming of the capital.

At the end of the hearing Rep. Liz Cheney, vice chair of the committee dropped this bombshell:

“And one more item: after our last hearing, President Trump tried to call a witness in our investigation, a witness you have not yet seen in these hearings. That person declined to answer or respond to President Trump’s call and instead alerted their lawyer to the call. Their lawyer alerted us. And this committee has supplied that information to the Department of Justice.”

Cheney also said they are taking this matter seriously and witness tampering will not be allowed.
