WASHINGTON (AURN News) — According to a press release, Rep. Maxine Waters sharply condemned the Trump administration’s unauthorized military strike in Venezuela, which reportedly resulted in the seizure of former Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro and his wife and their transport to the United States. Waters warned that no president has the authority to launch military action against a sovereign nation without congressional approval, calling the move unconstitutional and dangerously reckless.
enWhile acknowledging Maduro’s record of corruption and harm to the Venezuelan people, she argued that Trump’s actions echo past U.S. interventions driven by oil and deception, with disastrous consequences. Waters emphasized that Congress alone has the power to authorize the use of force and said Trump’s public boasting about detaining foreign leaders and claiming control over Venezuela represents an alarming abuse of power.
