(AURN News) — Michael B. Jordan made history at the 2026 Academy Awards, winning Best Actor for his performance in “Sinners.” It was his first Oscar nomination and his first win.
Jordan portrayed twin brothers Smoke and Stack in Ryan Coogler’s film about race in America, becoming the first actor ever to win the award for playing twins in the same film.
With the victory, Jordan also became just the sixth Black man to win Best Actor, joining Sidney Poitier (1964), Denzel Washington (2002), Jamie Foxx (2005), Forest Whitaker (2007), and Will Smith (2022).
In his acceptance speech, Jordan honored those pioneers and thanked audiences who supported his career.
The film “Sinners,” which entered the ceremony with a record 16 nominations, had already won several major awards, making Jordan’s historic performance one of the defining moments of the night.
Ryan Coogler, the film’s director, also won Best Screenplay.
