(AURN News) — Michael Jordan is backing a new multimedia center at Morehouse College designed to prepare students for careers in journalism and digital media, CBS News reported.
The Morehouse Multimedia Center officially opened Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and will offer hands-on training in digital storytelling, sports broadcasting, podcasting, filmmaking and emerging media technology.
Students will work with professional equipment and learn from award-winning creators as they prepare for careers in media.
The facility was made possible through support from Jordan Brand, which committed more than $1 million in 2021 to scholarships and academic programs for Morehouse students studying journalism and sports-related fields.
The center includes editing bays and $250,000 worth of equipment.
Morehouse launched its journalism major in 2022, and college leaders say the new center will connect classroom learning with real-world professional experience for students.
