Six fatalities, including three children, have been reported after a female shooter attacked a private Catholic grade school in Nashville’s Green Hills neighborhood. The suspect, a 28 year old Nashville woman, was armed with multiple weapons and was later killed by responding police officers.
The identities of the victims have not been disclosed, but all three adult fatalities were school employees. The incident occurred at The Covenant School on Monday morning when the shooter entered through a side door and fired numerous shots throughout the building.
Police engaged the suspect on the second floor where she was fatally shot by two officers. The school, which serves preschool through sixth grade students, conducted active shooter training last year.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting local law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.
