(AURN News) — New data shows the U.S. economy continues to pose serious challenges for middle- and working-class Americans, and a new Politico poll indicates that many voters are placing the blame squarely on President Donald Trump.
According to the survey, 46% of respondents say the cost of living is the worst they can remember. Notably, 37% of Trump voters in the 2024 election agree that affordability is at its lowest point in their lifetimes.

Politico reports that 46% of those surveyed now say the current economic environment is “Trump’s economy,” meaning they believe the responsibility for rising costs now resides with the president.
The poll also found that 53% of voters who supported former Vice President Kamala Harris say the cost of living is the worst they can remember.

Among the most difficult expenses to manage, respondents cited: grocery costs, housing costs, health care costs, and utility bills. When it comes to groceries, 33% of participants said they find them difficult to afford, while 17% said they are very difficult to afford.
The poll was conducted Nov. 14–17 among U.S. adults.
