President Biden traveled to Pennsylvania to present his Safer America Plan. The plan is a three-step strategy. Number one, it funds the police and promotes effective prosecution of crimes affecting families, including funding 100,000 additional officers who will be recruited, trained, hired, and supervised consistent with the president’s executive order to advance accountability and gain the trust of residents.

Number two, the plan invests in crime prevention and a fair criminal justice system, including investing $20 billion in services that address the causes of crime and incentivizing the reform of laws that increase incarceration without addressing public safety.

Thirdly, it takes additional common-sense steps on guns and keeps dangerous firearms out of dangerous hands. The administration says they will call on Congress to require background checks for all gun sales, and the president says it’s “time to hold every elected official’s feet to the fire.”
