Republican Congress member Burgess Owens (R-UT) rejected reparations during a Congressional hearing, sending a message to Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) during the session.

Rep. Owens went on to day “reparation is divisive. It speaks to the fact that we are a hapless, hopeless race and never did anything but wait for white people to show up and help us. It demeans my parent’s generation.”
