Season two of FX’s Atlanta written by Donald Glover and his brother Stephen Glover did not disappoint. The shows focus shifted to a theme entitled “Robbin’ Season” which dug deeper into each character’s psyche on a fundamental level.

Each significant cast member experienced some type of psychological trauma, whether it is Earn’s Donald Glover’s character adolescent flashback to a time where he struggled to find validation by convincing his cousin, Al/Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry) to lie about his fake FUBU jersey or Darius’ (Lakeith Stanfield) run in with the unusual, Michael Jackson-esque, Teddy Perkins character in which a near-fatal incident took place.

Now, with the show officially renewed Donald Glover and company have publicly discussed the direction of the hit comedy/drama while speaking at an FYC screening and panel this past Friday night in North Hollywood, CA. Donald Glover had this to say, “I align the seasons I think, to me, like Kanye records… I feel like this is our ‘Graduation.’ This is probably our most accessible but also the realest — an honest version of it — and I feel like the most enjoyable, like the third album.” Donald’s brother Stephen added, “What’s exciting to me is that we can do almost anything… And also, all the writers are very excited to try to top themselves.”
