Today is Black Voter Day, and I spoke with Tiyale Hayes, the Executive Vice President of Insights and Multiplatform Analytics at BET. He said today is about centering the Black agenda.
“We want to make sure we are inspiring the black community to vote. Over half of all 18 to 24-year-olds did not vote in the 2020 election, and we know that Black men are right now targeted by millions of bots spreading misinformation. So we want, on this National Black Voter Day, to bring action so that we can be inspired and included in this program.”
And he says, here’s what you need to do.
“So National Black Voter Day is all about checking your registration, getting registered, making sure that your registration matches your address and putting together a plan to vote. Your vote is your power, and we want to make sure that every Black person in this community is engaged in this process. If you happen to be in Philadelphia Friday night, come out for our Vote Fest Rally from 6:00 until 8:00 in Philly.”
To check your registration, you can go to canivote.org.
