(AURN News) – “Eleven months ago, I inherited a mess, and I’m fixing it,” said President Donald Trump.

But is he really? Or is President Donald Trump gaslighting Americans? In a speech to the nation Tuesday night, Trump delivered an 18-minute address blaming former President Joe Biden and Democrats for what he called “48 years of the worst inflation,” a “border invasion” of 25 million criminals and economic collapse, while claiming he achieved zero border crossings, stopped inflation, settled eight wars and presided over “the hottest economy ever.”

But he did not address the reality that families are still grappling with 3% inflation, 4.4% unemployment, and among African Americans closer to 7% unemployment overall – and soaring rents.

Border crossings are far from zero, and wages continue to lag behind costs for many Black and brown communities and working-class households. Tariffs he has promoted are pushing prices even higher.
