WASHINGTON (AURN News) — Americans are increasingly dissatisfied with President Donald Trump’s handling of the cost of living, including many Republicans. A new Associated Press-NORC poll found just 17% of U.S. adults approve of his handling of the cost of living. Approval of Trump’s handling of the economy overall has fallen to 26%, a new low in his second term.

The pressure is hitting home. About half of U.S. adults are deeply worried about being able to afford groceries and gas. Roughly six in 10 Republicans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the cost of living.

Trump campaigned on promises to bring prices down. Now 69% of U.S. adults say Trump’s handling of the cost of living has been worse than expected, including 52% of Republicans.

There’s still a partisan divide. About two-thirds of Republicans say higher prices are due to factors beyond the president’s control. But with control of Congress at stake, Republican candidates are campaigning as many Americans remain dissatisfied with the administration’s handling of living costs.

Whether that frustration carries into the voting booth remains to be seen.
