President Donald Trump announced Monday that he would “lead a movement” to eliminate mail-in ballots, pledging to sign an executive order he claims will “bring HONESTY to the 2026 Midterm Elections,” according to The New York Times.

Trump, who has long opposed mail-in voting, again repeated false claims that it fueled fraud in 2020, despite his own attorney general William Barr stating there was no evidence.

In a Truth Social post, Trump also called for scrapping voting machines, incorrectly insisting that the U.S. is the only country that uses mail-in voting.

He further asserted that states must follow federal direction in running elections.

Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed with him at their recent Alaska summit, calling mail-in voting “rigged.”
