President again said the part Americans can’t afford to ignore. In a phone interview with NBC News’ Kristen Welker, Trump declared, “I’m not joking” — in reference to seeking a third term in office — suggesting there are methods to make it happen. That’s despite the 22nd Amendment, which clearly bars any president from being elected more than twice.

If you’re wondering how serious he is, Trump doubled down on , calling it a potential third term, but then said, “I don’t want to talk about a third term now because no matter how you look at it, we got a long time to go.”

This isn’t the first time Trump’s teased breaking term limits, but it may be his most blatant attempt yet to normalize what would be a constitutional crisis. Trump even played coy when asked if ‘s presidency could serve as a Trojan horse for his return. He said, “That’s one, but there are others,” and didn’t elaborate in the call with Welker.
